Thank you very much to you and the scholarship committee for awarding me a scholarship. I appreciate it very much. I am planning to be at the August lodge meeting and will give a presentation. I will get in touch with Roger to see if I can do a brief PowerPoint. I would like the lodge members to see what I have accomplished this year and how their generosity has helped me to do it. Thank you again for awarding me this very generous scholarship. I am looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the members in August.

Thank you so much for the scholarship. This means so much to me and my family, as college is certainly not cheap. Any amount of money is extremely helpful. Not only is the money meaningful, but taking part in my Norwegian heritage in any way makes me feel so grateful. I'm so glad that I was able to share my story to people who value Norwegian culture as much as I do! To everyone who has contributed their time or money to this group and my scholarship, I am deeply grateful. Your hard work, volunteering and fund-raising has taken a huge monetary weight off my shoulders, allowing me to successfully get the degree that I have always sought out. My name is Sierra Brewster and I go to Colorado State University. I am majoring in environmental engineering and minoring in construction management. I love the outdoors and try to spend as much time as possible in nature. I like to run, climb, hike, and spend time with my lovely friends. I visited Norway a few years ago and adored everything about it. Sometimes, way up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, I get reminded of the breathtaking wilderness that my family enjoyed in Norway. Thank you again for supporting my education!

My name is Emma Kwok, and I was one of the recipients of the 2025 Sons of Norway scholarship. I am truly grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship! Thank you for allowing me to continue my academic endeavors without having to stress about finances. And thank you for providing this opportunity to help me continue attending my school. I also want to thank the volunteers for all the work they did to raise money! My parents actually helped at one of the fundraising events (the Yard Sale) and enjoyed it a lot! I also attended the Syttende Mai celebration a couple of months ago, and I had a lot of fun! Below is my bio and photo. Emma is entering her third year at Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) as an Electrical Engineering major. She is also a part of the track team at NNU as a thrower. Emma has enjoyed the projects she got to work on in class like, designing a bridge, launching rockets, and tinkering with electronics. She has also enjoyed the connections she has made on the track team and the opportunity to compete at a collegiate level. After she graduates, she hopes to travel to Norway and learn more about her family history.

My name is Kasper Roden-Riisnaes], and I’m proud of my Norwegian roots. Growing up, I was surrounded by little traditions that helped me feel connected to my heritage. My mormor used to sing “Rida, Rida Ranka” to me when I was little, and every Christmas we’d have Norwegian meatballs as part of our family meal. These small things meant a lot and helped me feel close to where my family came from. I’ve had the chance to travel to Norway a few times, and those trips gave me the chance to further experience my heritage. I remember eating fresh shrimp by the water, drinking Solo soda, and enjoying Melkesjokolade—my favorite chocolate. The fjords and green hills were so different from the desert landscape I’m used to. It was amazing to see. One of my favorite moments was visiting the Munch Museum and seeing the art of Edvard Munch. His paintings were powerful, and it made me feel proud to be part of a culture with such a strong artistic history. All of these experiences, both at home and in Norway, have helped me learn more about who I am. I’m thankful for my heritage and excited to keep exploring it as I grow. Thank you so much to the Sons of Norway Vegas Vikings for the generous scholarship. Your support will allow me to continue my education and work toward my goals. I really appreciate your kindness and belief in me.
