When one learns what all Kathy Njus does outside her full-time job, you would think she is a wonder woman without a cape. As a result of her contributions to the Vegas Vikings, she was named Volunteer of the Month for April.
In October and November she helped bring the Lodge into the 21st century with the creation a of Zeffy, an electronic method for people to contribute to the Lodge electronically. She continued that effort into January by helping with ticket sales at the annual Lutefisk Dinner. Patrons bough their tickets using a QR code, eliminating the expense of mailing tickets and receipts.
“The Lodge means so much to me,” Kathy said. “The membership reminds me of so many people I know— family. It helps me learn about my heritage, and I look at the membership as my extended family.”
She also serves on the Lodge’s Marketing Committee helping streamline our communication. In March she helped her father Igmar (a Volunteer of the Month last December) by helping prepare their home on Desert Inn Road to serve as host for the annual garage sale. For the District Six Convention in June, she has agreed to volunteer on the concierge desk and helping in the development of the Marketing PowerPoint presentation for delegates .
While she doesn’t have to say it, her devotion to her father shows, and his participation in the Lodge as well. But there is so much more: She is the treasurer for the state Republican Party. She serves as webmaster for Four Seasons Church and as one of its hostesses. Her day job is secretary for Dawn M. Lozano, Ltd. And if she has any time left, her she enjoys crocheting, reading, baking, and taking care of her four dogs.
The Lodge congratulate Kathy Njus, Wonder Woman without a cape.
